There are over 1600 children in Sacramento County’s foster care system. 43% are ages 11-17, however, there is a lack of foster homes who provide care to those ages.
Sacramento County is looking for families to share their homes and love with youth who can no longer live with their biological family. Foster parents play a huge part in the care and healing of children and youth in our community.
Sacramento County is not the only county who has a need for additional foster families. With the implementation of the Continuum of Care Reform in California, all counties are in need of individuals and families willing to care for children and youth.
Additionally, there is a push to move youth from group care to family settings. This change in direction has created an urgent need for families to step up and serve their community.
